Seris Forest Analytics

Case Studies

Our case studies demonstrate how Seris Forest Analytics translates forest science, policy, and real-world conditions into strategic guidance for our partners.

Forest Analytics for Carbon Tracking (FACT): Tree Tracker Data System
Partners: US Endowment for Forestry and Communities, USDA Forest Service, National Council on Air and Stream Improvement, Three Trees Consulting, Alonso Strategies, Prisley Forest Analytics

Seris Forest Analytics is supporting the development and launch of a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)-sponsored digital platform that will provide forest landowners, wood product producers, and wood product consumers with authoritative data and methods to quantify forest carbon in ecosystems and harvested wood products across the value chain. This work includes:

  • Contributing to methodology development for the Forest Flux Tools, with specific oversight of the Default Carbon Inventory Tool.
  • Serving on the Methodology Review Panel for the Forest Flux Tools
  • Contributing to science synthesis products and advancing conversations around where future investments in research and tool functionality should be made.
  • Supporting the overall delivery of the website, including producing underlying documentation, user testing, and public outreach.
Technical Consultation to the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO)
Partners: National Alliance of Forest Owners

Seris Forest Analytics supports NAFO’s strategic policy, data, and advocacy needs by assisting in the translation of forest and climate information into clear, defensible positions for national and international audiences. We help NAFO navigate complex technical data, anticipate international reporting pressures, and advocate effectively for the sustainability and credibility of U.S. private forest management. Examples of this work include analysis of FAO standards for national forest monitoring systems and alignment with the U.S. Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program and technical consultation on U.S. reporting to the FAO Forest Resources Assessment and implications for EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) benchmarking.

Technical Consultation for RAMO Earth’s Digital Platform for Carbon Project Feasibility
Partners: Ramo Earth, Juniper Tree Climate Solutions
Seris Forest Analytics is supporting RAMO Earth in assessing the carbon project potential of U.S. landholdings through integration of national forest datasets, first-order carbon accumulation modeling, and evaluation of suitable methodologies. These insights are translated into standardized evaluation procedures and spatially explicit mapping tools within RAMO’s cloud-based Nature-Based Solutions Operating System, helping users understand carbon opportunities with clarity and confidence.
